Stevie Lizard moved to Chicago from Philadelphia in 1994 looking to "get in to the music scene and play with good musicians." Not long after getting his feet wet in the blues clubs, he was hired to play guitar with the legendary singer harpist Junior Wells. He stayed with Junior up until his untimely passing, touring around the world and playing on the Grammy-nominated Live at Buddy Guy's. But this is no blues band. The Sloppy Sextet strive for a sense of spirituality and mood found in the classic blues and jazz recordings but in a rock idiom; musicians conversing with one another and connecting with the audience, improvising within chord structures, and modes, and creating moving dance rhythms.
